Audrey's Day Out

Spring racing: What’s the verdict?

As you would be aware, the biggest event of the spring racing carnival, the Melbourne Cup, was run yesterday. Known as “the race that stops the nation”, the Melbourne
Cup is not only a public holiday for Melbournians and a day where big crowds are attracted to the fields of Flemington, but it’s also a day where the rest of the nation dedicate their afternoon to watch this famous race. As Green Moon burst to the front in the last 250m and finished in commanding style, the nation was held to a stand still. Now that the race has been run and won, it is time to see the results on the fashion field.

Here are my verdicts on some of the stand outs this season:

Nicole Kidman in her 21st century My Fair Lady dress

Jennifer Hawkins with her simple and elegant style for Derby Day

Kate Waterhouse in this pretty lavender dress. Not so sure about the fascinator but I think she deserves bonus points for trying something different.

And, check out the winners from the Fashions on the field here!

So, what’s your verdict?
