Every girl has a few items in their wardrobe that they really love to wear. It may be a flattering suit jacket, jeans that always fit perfectly or tops that will brighten your dullest of days. But there is one thing for certain – every girl needs a dress in their wardrobe. Dresses are the most feminine item in women’s fashion. Designed to accentuate the body shape of a woman, its elegance is captured in a one-piece garment which makes it perfect for formal occasions. I believe that each dress is special in its own way, as each dress can be tailored to different occasions and different styles. And for this very reason, I believe you can never have too many dresses.
I’d like to share with you the five dresses I think have that special place in every women’s heart, and at the same time are very versatile. So you will not only love it, but will also want to keep it.
1) The Little Black Dress (The LBD)
The LBD has always been around, but its fame exploded thanks to Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s:
This may sound clichéd but the LBD has proven to be the ‘must have’ in any wardrobe. It is extremely versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down, and the fact that it is black will trim a few pounds off any shape. I personally love the very original LBD which has the two thin straps, like the Dolce & Gabbana LBD, which can be dressed up for a dinner date, or dressed down to meet up with the girls for brunch:
Dress: Dolce & Gabbana, Cape: http://www.jesuislaharley.com, Shoes: Christian Louboutin, Necklace: Chanel
Jacket: Sportsgirl, Shoes: Ferragamo, Bag: Oroton
2) The pretty dress
Need I say more …
Dress: Raul dress by Ted Baker
Dress: Coast and French Connection
3)The vintage dress
I personally love vintage because it is always hip to be wearing something recycled. You can easily mix and match with contemporary accessories to create your very own original style!
Dress: green vintage dress, Belt: Stylesofia.com, Shoes: Karen Millen, Bag: Chanel
4) The dream dress
We all have seen a dress (or many) we can only dream to own. Although this dress is not a ‘must have’, it is certainly a must LOVE! For me, my dream dress is the Versace Couture worn by Carrie Bradshaw in the last season of Sex and the City. She wore this dress when she left everything behind in New York to pursue a relationship she believed to be her very own fairy tale. With this story and Paris as the backdrop, what’s not to love about this dress!
